I recently purchased 2 Rollei's off ebay. The cameras were sold to me by the son of Artie Shaw who said they were Artie's cameras. He had no other info and only this one photo of this camera. I've spent a few hours trying to ID the camera model and am still stumped. I won't get the camera for a few days so if anyone wants to help me out here please do. The 2 parts of the camera that have me puzzled are the viewfinder lid (not having the logo) and the aperature knob has an extra horizontal metal oval type bit in it. It's a 3.5 tessar. Just curious what model and what year roughly.

Hi Jim,

this looks like a Rolleiflex 3.5 MX-EVS, 1954-1956, with the Exposure Value Scale.
The 'horizontal metal oval type bit' you can push and turn, to lock the exposure value, so you can change both the exposure time and aperture with one single turn of the knob.
