the battery used was a Mallory MN 1604. If you're still searching the user's manual, have a look at this:

Hi Claus, Thanks a lot !! I just bought a copy of that manual on ebay , but nevertheless your info is much appreciated. I will include it in the SL66 CD and lter when I have found a secure download option in an online section.
