Filter factor adjustment on F series Rolleiflex cameras...

I don't understand the filter factor adjustment on the side of the Rolleiflex F series cameras. Is it filter factor or stops?

My understanding from reading the manual is that turning the filter factor adjustment wheel on the ASA/DIN adjustment knob would adjust filter factor. So, turning it to 1.5 for a medium yellow filter would increase the exposure by 2/3 of stop. However, on my camera (3.5F version 3) it seems to adjust in stops, not filter factors. Turning it to 1.5 means that I am exposing 100 ISO film at about 38 ISO, not 64. Can anyone confirm?

Thank you.

jason

ps: First post here. I haven't had a medium format camera for 20 years, and am very excited about my Rollei...

Hi,
wellcome to the club!

It is more like f-stops, the original Rollei-filters have corresponding engravings.

Thank you for the response. It makes sense, but not so useful since they are marked in half-stops.

Half a stop vs. a third of a stop?... just ignore the difference as much as possible ;-)

Well, considering all my shutter speeds are a half stop slow, I guess you are right, it doesn't much matter, just one more thing to think about as I am moving the dials.
