Proxar and Rolleinars

Postby Cedric Paris » Fri Nov 13, 2015 7:58 am

Hello everyone,

I wanted to have a Rolleinar on my Automat I and on my Old Standard Rolleiflexes.
The Automat has a Bay I taking lens, and a 28.5mm viewing lens
The Old standard has two 28.5 lenses

Apparently, you can't put Rolleinars on 28.5 lenses, but instead, the Zeiss equivalent, called Proxar.

Focusing Distances Proxar
Proxar 1: 56cm à 1 m = 40 to 20 inches
Proxar 2: 25 to 50 cm = 20 to 10 inches

Focusing Distances Rolleinar
Rolleinar 1: 45cm - 1m
Rolleinar 2: 31cm-50cm
3: 24 -32

The problem is: they do not correspond exactly. The distances of Rolleinar 1 do not correspond exactly to Proxar 1.

How can we use these devices on an Automat, that has Rolleinar down, and Proxar up?

Another question: the RolleiPar or RolleiParKeil should be added on the top lens, to correct the parallax. Is is true also if a Rolleinar is used on the Rolleiflex 2.8F Bay III?

For Bay III (the 2,8 Planar/Xenotar Rolleiflex) the Heidosmat-Rolleinar (including the Parkeil) goes onto the viewing lens, the plain Rolleinar lens goes onto the taking lens.

Regarding the old automats/standards? Sorry, I never bothered ;-) I do have several complete sets (two piece / three piece / push-Parkeil, bayonet Parkeil, ...), but I hardly ever use close-up lenses on any TLR.
