Maxwell screen in my Rolleiflex

Postby zippypinhead » Sun Mar 17, 2013 3:52 pm

I just got my Rollei back from Krikor after having a Maxwell screen installed.
All I can say is WOW!!!!
Previously, I was using the Rolleiflex almost like a range-finder with a dim viewfinder.... I could only guess what was in frame much less if I was in focus.
I can hardly wait to get the opporunity to run a few rolls of film through the old girl.
I'm only posting this up for others, like me, asking the question of whether or not the bright screen was worthwhile.

Maybe your mirror was/is also dirty. The stock screen shouldn't be that hard to use. Right now I have two 2.8Fs (FX) One has the stock screen in and the other a Maxwell. The Maxwell is waaaaaay brighter, like 2 stops brighter however I am finding, using them both side by side on some still life subject, that the stock screen is actually more distinct in off axis focusing even if it is dimmer.
