Franke & Heidecke Hy6

I just recently attended the Photo Plus Expo in NYC at the Javitz center last week and I payed a visit to the Leaf booth where they were flashing around their version of the Hy6 or what they christened the Leaf AFi. Even though it was a mockup, I was completely impressed with the camera. I was particularly amazed at how light in weight it was compared to the current 6000 series. The autofocussing was very fast and responsive. According to the Leaf representative, it will be only sinar and one other company that will distribute the branded camera. Phase one may be kept out of the loop according to him. Apparently it has not been decided yet.

I also wanted to mention that the Leaf rep refused to acknowledge that the camera was a Rollei (Franke & Heidecke). He insisted the camera was a Leaf AFi. He did not refer to it as the Hy6 or reference Rollei or any previous products associated with the 6000 series. I was given the impression that Leaf may customize the camera on its final release to use only leaf products. I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to tie the user into their product by making the camera they offer a closed system version.
