I'd like to take some family portraits with myself in the picture. Is there any device (cheap) that will activate the shutter after the timer goes so I can get into the picture too?

I've seen those little "Kopal" self timers. They are simple cheap windups, but they seem to create so much vibration that I was reluctant to buy one. Instead I got an air bulb cable release.
I guess I imagined the Kopal timer continuing to vibrate after it pushed the shutter. Is this the case? Or am I just worried about nothing.

No defects in photo quality from the timer in my experience. Would it be any different than if a mechanical timer were built into the camera?
