Singapore 35 odd serial number

Postby barrington » Tue Feb 25, 2014 5:00 am

I have a bog standard 35 (pre-T) but I have always wondered how high the serial numbers went.According to this site, they should end at 3499999 but mine is 6001770!

Any ideas?

Yes, Jaap should stop the serial number business. ;-)

Or add a batch of Rollei 35 (blank / "non-T") Made in Singapore starting around 6001629 and ending somewhere like 6256036.

What is the serial number range for 35 T? 6287453 to 6454158 or something like that?

I recently bought a Sonnar-S, black body off of ebay. It had a jammed shutter mechanism and a dead light meter. Both were easy fixes, but it had a badly worn top cover, not from dents or scratches, but from body/hand oil. It looked like pitting from salt air to create a visual picture you. The cover was made of brass not aluminum. My delima is not about paint. The top cover had no serial number and the bottom cover backside has no manufacturer location markings - no Germany or Singapore, nothing at all. The lens ser. no. is 2306916, a pretty low mfg. number. What's up with that? Is it pre-1976

I just bought a used Rollei 35 made in SG and there is a serial no. 6256277 printed next to the viewfinder. Is this something common?

"I just bought a used Rollei 35 made in SG and there is a serial no. 6256277 printed next to the viewfinder. Is this something common?" Yes and no. Rollei 35 Made in Songapore with a serial number in that range are common, number 6256277 should be "unique" ;-)
