ANOTHER ROLLEI 35S SERIAL NUMBER QUESTION, HELP ME PLEASE!

Postby Vincenzo Maielli » Tue Apr 27, 2010 12:47 am

Hy to all, this is my very first post.
I realize that I'm going to bore you again with the vexed question of the Rollei 35S serial number, but please be so kind as to read these my short words...
I recently purchased a mint Rollei 35S Black. The serial number of the lens is 2707594. Outside the camera, there is no other number.
Instead, inside the film receiver spool, there is the number 39.431100.
Which of these two figures represents the true serial number of my Rollei 35S Black?
Thank you so much!
Ciao.
Vincenzo

Vincenzo,
please relax regarding this serial number business! It is purely monkey business.

For some items (like the Magnar, Duonar, Motordrive, ...) a collection of serialnumbers does have a benefit of maybe some day knowing (or at least guessing close to the real figure), how many were made. With Rollei 35, Rolleicord, ... IT IS boring. Well OK, in case you come up with a Rollei 35 "Compur-Gossen-Zeiss", the serial number will be interesting.

39.something is more something like a part number than a serial number. Some Rollei 35 have a body serial number in the film chamber (the one for the film cartridge).

Best

The highest serial number for a "Compur-Gossen-Zeiss" I have ever seen was 3021493 ;-) you go figure ...

My lowest Rollei 35 is 3001031 (but that one lacks the Compur-Gossen-Zeiss writing :-( will have to learn engraving some day or swapp backs ...

Hallo , my lowest new Rollei 35 is now : 3004882 w/o obviously the magic engraving "Compur-Gossen-Zeiss" ( I have stupidly sold my previous 30001099 ... hoping a miracle by finding a "relics") !
