Rollei 35LED Type?

The information on the 35LED in this website identifies two types of 35LED. Based on serial numbers I should have one of each type but have not found any difference between them. Does anyone know what distinguishes a type 1 from a type 2?

Geeeez, the serial number ... again(!) ... just forget everything you ever heard about serial numbers. It is just a foolish believe in easy soultions and avoiding real life (looking th "things" not serial numbers).

The first series Rollei 35 LED had a seperate switch to turn on/off the meter, the second series did it with the shutter release button (and a timing cycle). Since the switch was a poor solution, Rollei went a different way after a few thousand prduced Rollei 35 LED - and many cameras of the first series were upgraded later.

Jaap! Could you please erase all serial number stuff on this site? Please!

Jan, Thanks for your very quick reply. I'm sure the serial number information is good for general guidance - but it was by examining examples of the actual camera that made me post my query. It seems that my earliest example, number 7312353 is a type 2 - the meter operates in the same way as my much higher number examples.
35LEDs are still often seen, it would be nice to find a type 1 - would you be able to answer another question - where is the 35LED type 1 meter switch and what does it look like?

The seperate meter switch is on the camera's top, "behind" the shutter release (if my memory serves well, a quick search didn't produce any pics on the internet, I wonder if have a sample of the early version somewehre). The Prochnow books "Rollei 35" and Rollei Report 3 will show a pic for sure.

I want to thank you for your kind message. I finally managed to find an European trader who has an original Rollei 35 S lens hood. He told me that the item is in great shape, so I'll give it a shot, in the hope that everything will be allright.
