Which Film?

I've been finding my feet with Black and White film for a few months now and would value opinions on the films I have available to me, namely Ilford HP5 and FP4, and Kodak T-Max

Of that list I vote for HP 5. It depends on what your subject matter is and your tastes for image qualities. I photograph mostly people and their environments and strongly prefer traditional 400 speed films (non T grain). Tri-X, HP5, Agafapan 400, Neopan 400, etc. Define your vision and find the materials to express it.

Sorry about this but neither of those for me! I'm having great results using the Adox CHS films (now known as CHS Art). And it's cheap to boot!

Deveoloped using Microphen this stuff does me for everything (still experimenting with large format brands but it works nicely there too)

The ilford Hp5 for lesser iluminated places and the Fp4 for every day use. I used the Tmax a lot (because I have no other) some time ago, and I was never really pleased by this film. Wink

I'm currently trying the Rollei R3 film and it's own developer with my 5x4 stuff.

Pick you ASA up to 6400 and develop accordingly!

Looks okay so far

For me the HP5 is better tham Tmax 400. I am a man of older emulsions. Regards: Ossain.

I don't shoot much B/W, but I do like what remains in my fridge of APX25... As I like low-speed films, I bought some Efke 25 a few years ago (I think freestyleephoto still sells it) and go remarkable results...

Of the two films you picked I'd have a hard time choosing. They are both excellent films. I use and like both. You can't go wrong with either.
