I have acquired a Rollei 35 S and I would like to be able to use it. (I have a collection of cameras). I *think* it needs some repair. I have no manual or guide with it and I cannot see how to open it to insert a film. Website info tells me the back opens, but I cannot see how!
Is it possible to get a guide or manual for this model?
Can anyone recommend a repair service in the Toronto area of Canada? Do you have some advice for me?

If you drop me a PM with your email address, I should have a PDF manual I can send.
I have a friend in France that is an expert at restoring these cameras. I haven't worked on one before. (he did mine for me in exchange for other work)

There are quite a few places around Toronto who repair most Rollei equipment. Remember, there are still the guys around from the former Leica plant in Midland.
The official Rollei repair service is "Kindermann Canada" in Markham. Their number is 905-940-9262. Another source for mechanical cameras is "Fotoworks" in Newmarket. This guy does good work for a decent price. The number is 905-868-8256. If you require service and spare parts, try those shops first. However, the only repair service that has all parts is in Germany. They purchased all service parts when Rollei went under the last time. The name is "Paepke Fototechnik" and their e-mail address is paepke-fototechnik@gmx.de .
Good look!

Thank you for your advice. I wondered if a camera that old was repairable and who would know.
Markham and Newmarket are quite a long distance from me in Port Credit Mississauga, but maybe I can e-mail them and deal with them by mail.
We are due for a GO Train strike next week! |
