I bought my first Rolliecord 2 over 50 years ago. As it was then 30 years old that now makes it 80. Well, for the usual reasons, it has not been used for quite some time. Now on this winter break I had the opportunity to take it and some processing kit with me. Traveling by car and ferry rather than flying is the reason. Thought taking my film scanner was a bit too much so I have to put an old Epson SX405 already here to use. Naturally a stock of 120 film (and some 620 for other cameras) came with me.
First to be tested was the Rolliecord 2. Fomapan film has black paper so trying to spot 1 in the red window was fun, but I managed that. What I had forgotten was the actual wind on after shot 1, so a big gap until I got the hang of it back.
Well, it still works. Shutter speeds seem about right. Processing skills have had plenty of practice recently as I have been working through my collection of 35mm cameras. Three Rollies there all working well.
Anyhow back to the 120 film. One aspect of analogue photography I was happy to leave behind was printing. Scanning and inkjet printing works for me. Rodinal seems to last forever and works on most films. As I am a camera man image quality is secondary to it all working out.
Well the scanner can manage 1200 dpi, which is fine for 120 film. I was wondering how to backlight the negative. I bought some black card and cut a slot in for three square negatives. Worked OK with room natural light with the lid up. Photoshop Elements 7 did the rest.
