I really like the E36RE flash but my NiCad batteries have finally given up the ghost. I found an exact replacement (Excell #NH10-7, 1-800-585 0789) but they don't sell a charger for it! That makes me wonder if the E34CE36RE charger will work with NMH batteries. I would like to hear what other people are doing to solve this battery problem.

Hi,
often you can charge batteries more easy than you are made to believe, if the power source you use is about 10-20 % higher in voltage as the battery output you should be right. I have had quite some luck with this 'theory'. Recharging odd shaped batteries with a bit of rubberband to keep the electrical wires comung from the power device to the battery connectors. As long as you use a low current and a almost idedentical voltage AND connect the positive from the 'charger' to the positive of the battery you can not go wrong. Monitor the temperature of the battery immediately, if it goes up very quickly ( whitin minutes ) the voltages needs to be lower. Normally the batteries under charges feel fairly warm. If they stay completely cold check the connections and the voltage. If you exercise common sense take care you can not really go wrong.
Good Luck;
jaap
